Why are we called a community bank instead of a credit union?

July 20, 2025

You may have noticed a change.
We now call ourselves a community bank instead of a credit union.

This does not mean we are different inside.
It is just a new name to make things easier to understand.

Nothing Has Changed

The most important thing to know is this:

We still work in exactly the same way.

  • The same people run the bank
  • The same services are offered
  • The same values guide everything we do

Only the name has changed.

We Are Still Owned by Our Members

We are owned by our members.

Members are the people who:

  • Save money with us
  • Borrow money from us

There are no big companies in charge.
There are no outside owners.

The people who use us own us.

Why Did We Change the Name?

The words credit union can be confusing.
Some people are not sure what they mean.

Some people think:

  • You need a special job to join
  • You might not be allowed
  • It is complicated

That is not true.
But the name can make people unsure.

Why “Community Bank”?

The words community bank are easier to understand.

They help show that:

  • We are local
  • We are friendly
  • We help everyday people
  • We care about our community

The new name makes it clearer what we do and who we are for.

What Stays the Same

Even with a new name, we are still:

  • Not‑for‑profit
  • Run for our members
  • Focused on helping people
  • Fair, open, and supportive

Your money still helps other local people.
Our community still comes first.

A New Name, the Same Heart

We rebranded to make things simpler.
Not to become something new.

We are still the same organisation.
Still member‑owned.
Still here for you.

Just with a name that is easier to understand.
